The Eternal Flame is an original dance production by Te Varua ʻOri, weaving together Tahitian dance, live percussion, storytelling, and narration into a moving journey of purpose, perseverance, and legacy.
Through the symbolic relationship between Mārama, a young girl who receives a sacred flame, and Te Ahi, the flame that faithfully walks beside her, audiences are invited to experience a story that spans every season of life—from innocence and discovery to choice, struggle, restoration, and ultimately, the passing of a legacy.
As Mārama grows, she learns that the flame she was entrusted to protect is also transforming her. Through seasons of joy and hardship, the flame becomes more than a gift—it becomes a constant companion, shaping her into the woman she is meant to become.
Brought to life through powerful ʻōtea, graceful aparima, moving narration, and the rich traditions of Polynesian culture, The Final Flame is a celebration of the gifts we receive, the trials that refine us, and the legacy we leave in the lives of others.
As Te Varua ʻOri closes one chapter of its own journey, this production serves as both a heartfelt farewell and a celebration of all that has been planted over the years.
